About Us

At Data Professionals we don’t start with tools—we begin by understanding risk. Our team focuses on protecting identities, securing data, and keeping systems available so your business can operate with confidence instead of uncertainty.

From our Founder

I started in IT services in 2012, working for a small MSP. I was good at fixing computers and managing servers, but something bothered me: we were treating symptoms, not causes.

Clients would get hit with ransomware. We'd restore from backup. Three months later, a different client, same attack vector. We were billing hours for reactive fixes instead of preventing the problems in the first place.

In 2015, I left to start Data Professionals Inc. with $50,000 and a CISSP certification. The goal was direct: build an IT company that addressed risk rather than just responding to incidents.

The first few years were rough. Long hours, tight margins, plenty of doubt. But I had a wife and two kids depending on me, so quitting wasn't an option. And I knew there was a better way to do this work.

The turning point occurred when I stopped selling "managed IT" and started leading with a security assessment. Instead of pitching packages, I'd ask: What are you protecting? What happens if it fails? What's your tolerance for downtime?

Clients responded. They were tired of being sold comfort instead of honesty. They wanted someone who would tell them what was actually wrong, not what was easy to bill.

Over a decade later, we've built a small team of senior technicians who understand risk management. We serve dozens of clients across Tennessee. We've exceeded my original goals, and I credit that to sticking with transparency even when it was harder than selling bundles.

I'm proud of what we've built. More importantly, I'm confident our clients know exactly what they're protected against — and what they're not.

I keep this company running while Bryan focuses on security.

When Bryan left his job in 2015 to start Data Professionals Inc., we had two young kids and a stable income disappearing. But I believed in what he was building — an IT company that told clients the truth. So we took the risk together.

While Bryan and the technical team handle security evaluations and client systems, I handle the business side: invoicing, accounting, payroll, taxes, HR, and contracts. The unglamorous work that keeps the lights on and everyone paid.

I make sure invoices go out on time, bills get paid, taxes get filed, and the team has what they need. I’m the office mom — I take care of our people so they can take care of our clients.

I also homeschool our kids and volunteer at Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries. It’s a lot, but someone has to keep everything running.

Conor Muenchen

My career in IT started in early 2020, supporting a fleet of around 500 iMacs. I got into this position with little prior experience other than my passion for tech and a real drive to learn. After that, I wanted to expand my knowledge and learn the ins and outs of everything under the IT umbrella. I took a part-time job at a hardware repair shop and went back to school to earn my degree and some industry-leading certifications.

After two years at Pellissippi State, I graduated with an associate's degree in IT (Networking concentration) and the CompTIA "Trifecta"—A+, Network+, and Security+. I have since added Server+ to that list.

My passion for providing the best support possible extends to my home lab, where I’m constantly testing and learning. I run an Unraid server, with a Tailscale integration built in, primarily for Docker containers—everything from Pi-hole for DNS filtering to Immich for self-hosting my media. I also maintain several test boxes for Proxmox and Ubuntu Server, where I'm continuously pushing the limits of what is possible.

When the screens are off, I’m usually with my wife and our pets: our dog, ferret, and the newest member of the family, our snake.

I began my career in the tech industry in early 2019, supporting network load balancers for a global organization shortly after earning my B.S. in Security Systems and Networking.

Technology has always been a passion of mine,  I was the go-to “IT guy” among friends and family. One standout moment involved emulating a Voodoo graphics card to run legacy software on a modern system, an experience that reinforced my passion for solving technical challenges and working across generations of technology.

In 2021, I transitioned into the MSP space, joining a high-pressure, fast-paced MSP in New York. It was a classic "sink or swim" environment, and I quickly rose from the newest technician to leading the helpdesk team. Looking back, I couldn’t be more grateful for the path I’ve taken. I'm proud to be part of a team that values growth, supports development, and shares a genuine passion for technology.

Carley Joe Stuart Bio:

Chief Barketing Officer

Don’t let the fluff fool you—Carley Joe (aka CJ) runs a tight ship. As our Chief Barketing Officer, she brings relentless energy, fierce loyalty, and just the right amount of drool to the office. A proud Portuguese Water Dog with a PhD in Desk Napping and Treat Negotiation, CJ specializes in keyboard warming, Zoom bombing, and unsolicited emotional support.

When she’s not "replying to emails" with her paws or aggressively advocating for lunchtime walk breaks, you can find her offering side-eye from the conference room or protecting the office from suspicious delivery drivers. She's cute and she's the real boss around here.
